Bridge across the Ahr in Altenahr
Trough Bridge in the Eifel
Description
This bridge catches the eye because of its playful but sensible design. The glulam girder on the one side of the bridge is effective because of its statical height like in a trough bridge construction. On the opposite side there is a longitudinal steel beam. In combination the timber-steel construction can carry a load of up to 30 tons. In the middle of the river the cross section of the bridge is mirrored. Due to the sides with different transparencies the view of the user is guided to the respective river bank.
