Foot and cycle path bridge over the Breg
Timber trough bridge in Donaueschingen
Description
This wooden trough bridge was planned as part of a near-natural redesign of the Danube spring in Donaueschingen. It spans the Breg as one of two rivers of origin of the Danube between the Anton Mall Stadium and the allotment garden area at Haberfeld. The construction as a trough bridge is statically very efficient and cost-effective, while at the same time the laterally arranged supporting structure offers the highest possible flow cross-section. A possible arrangement of vibration dampers was taken into account statically and constructively: should an increased susceptibility to vibrations be detected due to the particularly light construction, two vibration dampers with a weight of up to 500 kg can be installed subsequently and thus increase the comfort on the bridge. The bridge was constructed as a prefabricated element and then mounted on the prepared pile head beams on site. In the next step, the rising components were produced in the alignment of the main girders to create a uniform overall appearance.
