Timber-framed lift tower with glass enclosure in Aalsmeer

As part of an innovative architectural project by Royal FloraHolland, access to the new pedestrian bridge is provided by an aesthetically pleasing timber construction. Three glass towers enclose the truss constructions of the respective lift shafts, while generous staircases rise up next to them. This design emphasises harmonious integration into the surroundings and the creation of visual lightness. The design is based on a discreet and visually slender construction method in which visible connecting elements are reduced to a minimum. This restrained design emphasises the natural beauty of the wood used and gives the building a timeless aesthetic.

A central concern of this project is accessibility: everyone should be able to enter and experience the bridge effortlessly. The timber construction is designed so that the inclination of the struts increases towards the top. This not only improves the transmission of forces, but also makes the structure appear lighter and airier, which enhances the overall architectural experience.

In order to create a harmonious overall appearance together with the transport and pedestrian bridge, the height of the roofs of the towers and the upper end of the timber construction is kept uniform. The consistency of the design creates a visual connection between the individual elements and ensures an impressive overall composition that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
