Block girder bridge over the A1 in Paris, France
Cycle and pedestrian bridge for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games
Description
After a successful competition entry by our French partners Exploration Architecture and AIA Lifedesigners for a “design and build” for a bicycle and pedestrian bridge for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, we were able to complete the preliminary design phase in recent months and are currently working on the design of the three-span block girder bridge.
Cross-sections are currently being confirmed and connection and fire protection details are being worked out.
The bridge, which will create a connection between the media village and the sports complex in Le Bourget via the A1, is based on a simple and economical construction that is durable and – due to the well thought-out structural timber protection – low-maintenance. Special requirements exist with regard to fire protection: the bridge construction must provide 2 hours of fire resistance.
