Block girder bridge over the A1 in Paris, France
Cycle and pedestrian bridge for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games
Description
The successful competition entry, submitted together with our French partners Exploration Architecture and AIA Lifedesigners, for a ‘design and build’ project for a bicycle and pedestrian bridge for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris will continue to be used after the Olympic Games: The bridge, which connects the media village and the sports complex in Le Bourget over the French A1 motorway, is based on a simple and economical design that is durable and, thanks to its sophisticated structural wood protection, requires little maintenance. There were special requirements with regard to fire protection: the bridge structure must be able to withstand fire for two hours.
