Cycle Bridge in Werratal
Cable Stayed Bridge Between Frankenroda and Ebenshausen
Description
In line with an economic stimulus package the Werratal cicyle path was expanded. Along a former railway route now the cycle path leads to a new timber bridge. The combination of trough and pylon construction with laminated timber beams was very suitable in this case and it is attractive both in economic and in visual matters. The blue pylons are similar to the “Sister bridge” in Ebenhausen. The abutments of the old railaway bridge were reused for the bridge. Alternatives, such as a concrete bridge design, would have been too heavy.
