Trough bridge on existing abutments
Barrier-free replacement building in Schlüchtern
Description
The former truss bridge connecting Steinkaute with Schlehenring could no longer be renovated for economic reasons. It was therefore completely demolished, with the exception of the load-bearing bearing structures.
In order to provide residents with a barrier-free and safe crossing over the busy L 3329 road, the town of Schlüchtern commissioned the construction of a replacement bridge.
In 2018, an almost identical foot and cycle bridge over the Kinzig river, leading to the sports field, was opened about one kilometre further on. Even then, this new construction impressed with its modern design and functional permeability.
