As part of the city&#8217;s cycle traffic concept, it is now being replaced by a modern new structure that connects Gartenstra\u00dfe with Bismarckstra\u00dfe &#8211; on an important priority cycle route.<\/p><p>The new bridge follows a symmetrically curved S-shaped layout that blends harmoniously into the topography and enables barrier-free ramp connections. The design consciously emphasises sustainable timber construction in an urban context.<\/p><p>The bridge is designed as a protected timber bridge in accordance with DIN EN 1995-2\/NA. Two curved glulam beams form a three-span system with a total length of around 69.40 metres. The cross-section heights vary depending on the static load. A Gerber joint enables segmented production and simple assembly. Steel frames connect the main girders.<\/p><p>With a maximum gradient of 6 %, the bridge fulfils the requirements for barrier-free construction. A covering of precast concrete elements protects the structure from the weather.
