are suitable for different span widths. The majority of all pedestrian bridges have a span width of less than 30 m. Several types of bridge are suitable for these areas which offer advantages depending on their intended use and terrain. In this respect, for instance, the trough bridge is an especially efficient type of bridge which stands out due to its limited substructure. With projects that have a more sophisticated design, block beam bridges are to be preferred. With arch or lattice constructions, considerably higher span widths without high superstructures under the roadway surface are possible. If it is necessary to overcome bigger span widths, anchoring and pylons can be used in order to reduce the individual span widths.
